Following yesterday's (5th) price hike for bottled gas in the city, individual gas companies continued to raise their prices today (6th), with the highest price per bottle reaching 120 yuan—just 3 yuan away from the historical peak of 123 yuan.
The most popular 15 kg bottled gas, which holds about 70% of the market share, increased from 101 yuan to around 115 yuan per bottle on the 5th. On the 6th, some companies further raised their prices. For example, at a Guangfu North Road gas station, the price of 15 kg bottled gas went up by another 5 yuan, pushing it to 120 yuan per bottle. This is now very close to the all-time high.
Gas stations under companies such as Zhongsui, Jiufeng, and the City Gas Company also gradually increased their prices starting from the 5th, with increases ranging from 4 to 10 yuan per bottle. According to recent data, this is the largest price increase in bottled gas in years.
Industry analysts attribute the surge to rising international oil prices, which have already exceeded $100 per barrel. Since Guangdong's bottled gas is largely imported as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the cost has been directly impacted.
Many consumers expressed surprise, noting that prices were still around 100 yuan just a few weeks ago. In less than half a month, the price has gone up by over 10 yuan, making the increase difficult to accept. Some users have even started considering switching to electricity, citing cost-effectiveness. As a result, more households are opting for induction cookers and electric water heaters instead of traditional gas stoves.
With the trend showing no sign of slowing down, many are rethinking their energy choices and looking for more affordable alternatives.
