Car fire in St Charles, 11-6-14

This is from John Tulipano:

Yesterday, November 6th, around 9:00 AM, St. Charles Fire Department sent Engine 103 to a car fire at 208 S. 15th Street. The caller reported a Buick on fire near the garage with some small explosions. I was about seven blocks east and heading in that direction. I arrived just 30 seconds before Engine 103 got there.
After the fire was out, the engineer showed me how the hood shocks had actually embedded themselves into the garage door. You can see this in the last photo.
The fire under the hood was quickly brought under control, taking only a few minutes to fully extinguish.

It’s always shocking to see how fast things can go up in flames. The fire didn’t spread much, but the explosion of the hood shocks was pretty intense. I’m glad the crew got there quickly and managed to contain it before it could get worse. Definitely something you don’t want to be close to. Thanks for sharing the photos, John – they really show what happened.
