Jeff Rudolph once again crossed the border on Thursday to cover a fire in Wisconsin, and provided this detailed account:
Pleasant Prairie, WI responded to a fire at Dejno’s Inc. located at 7533 75th St. with Box 56-01 elevated to Box Alarm level. Upon arrival, fire was visible from a rooftop hopper unit used for loading sawdust. Winthrop Harbor, IL sent a change of quarters to Pleasant Prairie Station 1, while Newport 1415 was dispatched to the scene. Additional mutual aid units arrived from Bristol, Somers, Kenosha, and Salem. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. A significant overhaul was required to ensure all smoldering dust was fully extinguished.
Several photos from the incident are available, showing the response efforts. Firefighters from Newport Township were seen working on the roof, as captured by Jeff Rudolph. The Pleasant Prairie Truck 5631 was set up on the roof of the industrial building, while the Pleasant Prairie Tanker 5615 provided water to the crews on site. Newport Engine 1415, alongside the tank truck, were both Pierce units. Additionally, Pleasant Prairie Engine 5612, a 2010 Pierce Quantum pumper/tanker, was actively pumping at the scene.
