Historic Chicago fire photos, 4-22-78

This is a message from Steve Redick:

April 22, 1978, a 2-11 alarm at 46th and LaSalle. I developed these photos in my own darkroom using TRI-X film. At the time, I was on Engine 84, and we were responding to that call. I remember we deployed a 3-inch line into the Snorkel. The camera I used was a Canon rangefinder.

These images offer a rare glimpse into the past, capturing the intensity of a fire response in Chicago during the late '70s. Many more photos can be found at firescenes.net. It's always fascinating to see how things have changed over the years, but also how some elements remain the same—like the dedication of the firefighters and the power of the moment captured through the lens.
