This message comes from Larry Shapiro:
I was on duty at Carol Stream when we received a report about a house fire. We quickly responded with our teams. The police had already noted visible smoke. Upon arrival, Carol Stream Battalion 28 confirmed there was light smoke at 409 Thunderbird Trail, which was less than a mile away from Station 28.
The fire was relatively small, and our teams managed it effectively using a pump can. The call came in just after the shift change, which explains why some firefighters who had just finished their shifts were still in regular clothes and assisting the on-duty crew.
Here are a few photos from the scene, along with a short video I took.

It's always a bit chaotic during shift changes, but everyone did their part to ensure the situation was handled efficiently. It’s moments like these that remind us how important teamwork is in emergency situations.
Stay safe out there!
