Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:
An apparent lightning strike hit a home in Hainesville on Thursday afternoon, causing a fire that quickly spread to the roof. The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m., when emergency responders received a call about a house fire in the 200 block of Big Horn Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters found a significant portion of the roof already engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but local officials believe it was triggered by a lightning bolt that struck the property. Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes. No injuries have been reported at this time.
