It is reported that Rolls-Royce Plc. has signed a contract with Brazil's Detroit Chile SA to deliver the offshore cranes to the four platform supply vessels (PSV) being built by the latter.
The equipment delivered by Rolls-Royce includes 4 sets of 8 sets of award-winning double-barrel cranes. Designed by Guido Perla, the four new vessels will be leased to Petrobras for eight years and will be operated by Starnav Servi?os Maritimos Ltd, a subsidiary of Detroit Chile SA.
The optimized double-barrel cranes are safer and more efficient when loading and unloading cargo at ports and decks, enabling quick and safe loading and unloading and movement of goods throughout the length of the main deck.
Ottar Antonsen, General Manager of Rolls-Royce Offshore, said, “I am pleased to be selected by Detroit Chile SA to supply this new and innovative PSV crane, which will be the first offshore vessel with self-contained deck handling equipment.â€
