According to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in 2010, with the gradual implementation of various policies and measures for the adjustment and revitalization of the top ten industries, China’s equipment industry maintained a rapid growth in production, the benefits were better than the overall industry, and exports steadily increased.
According to statistics, in 2010, the added value of the equipment industry above designated size increased by 21.1% over the previous year, an acceleration of 7.3% year-on-year; the production and sales volume of automobiles reached 18,260,000 and 18.06 million, respectively, an increase of 32.4% year-on-year; and the shipbuilding completion volume was 65.6 million. The DWT increased by 54.6% year-on-year, and the volume of orders received for new vessels reached 75.23 million dwt, which was 2.9 times the new orders received in the previous year; the output of large tractors increased by 77.7% year-on-year.
Significant achievements have been made in the localization of major technical equipment. Since the “Eleventh Five-Year Planâ€, the independent innovation of the machinery industry has achieved fruitful results. In 2010, the output value of new products reached 18.92%, which was 8 percentage points higher than the total output value. The 3000m deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform with international advanced level was put into use, and breakthroughs were made in the development and application of domestic materials for the C919 large passenger aircraft.
The pace of industrial optimization and upgrading has been accelerated. In 2010, China's advanced digital-controlled heavy-duty 5-axis linkage lathe-milling machine tools and large-scale rapid CNC automatic press production lines were successfully operated. The numerical control rate of machine tool output value increased from 47.3% in 2005 to over 50% in 2010. The numerical control rate of cutting machine tools increased by nearly 7 percentage points, and the self-sufficiency rate of CNC machine tools increased by more than 10 percentage points.
The cross-industry, cross-district, and cross-ownership enterprises restructured at a faster pace. Shandong Weichai, engineering machinery, and automobile reorganized the three major groups. Weapons Group merged Baoding Tianwei, Guangqi acquired Hunan Changfeng, and Shaanxi drums acquired drums, all yielding very good results.
