Energy Saving and Emission Reduction: Small Displacement and New Energy Vehicles Must Be Small

The low-price era of refined oil products in China has gradually drifted away and is likely to never return. Energy-saving and new energy vehicles are expected to usher in the spring.

Reducing the cost of vehicles becomes the focus of consumers

Since the second half of 2007, international oil prices have entered an unprecedented period of rapid growth. Reducing vehicle costs has become the focus of attention for many consumers in the era of high oil prices. Previously consumers' understanding of costs often only stayed at the stage of purchase of new cars. They paid more attention to configuration and prices and were more sensitive to vehicle prices. With the changes in the car environment and the consumer environment, consumers are gradually realizing that just focusing on the initial purchase cost of the car is far from enough. They will consider more whether the car can reduce the comprehensive conservation cost to the long-term use process. . The change in consumer attitudes will also trigger the evolution of the value measurement standard for consumer cars. It will gradually shift from a purely cost-effective purchase consideration to an overall trade-off of fuel costs, maintenance costs, maintenance costs, and other lifetime use costs.

In this case, the advantages of new energy vehicles and energy-saving small-displacement vehicles will emerge.

Small-displacement cars still have a long market life

From the perspective of energy conservation, the fuel index of economical low-emission vehicles is significantly lower, that is, the cost is lower. This cost savings is not only reflected in the long-term operating costs. At the time of car purchase, the price of small-displacement vehicles is also much cheaper than other models. Therefore, for consumers, high-end compact or small-displacement models will become the first choice in the era of high oil prices.
When interviewed by this reporter, auto expert Zhong Shi believes that the most pressing issue for auto companies today is not the development of new energy vehicles, but the development of small-displacement vehicles, that is, changing the production and consumption preferences in the original product structure. He believes that small displacement still has a long market vitality and is a way out for the auto industry in the era of high oil prices, but it also requires the government to introduce relevant policies to guide it.

Diversification of energy will bring automotive diversity

"Automobiles follow energy." Fan Zhong, secretary of the Dongfeng Motor Party Committee, told reporters that diversification of energy sources will lead to the diversification of automobiles. Hybrid vehicles are energy-efficient. Although hybrid vehicles are still a transitional product in the long run, they will eventually be replaced by pure electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles. However, from a realistic point of view, hybrid power is the easiest to realize, and it is also At the forefront of commercial operations. While Dongfeng is committed to the development of hybrid vehicles, it is also developing vehicles with various energy sources such as LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and natural gas.

Yin Tongyao, chairman and general manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., told reporters that Chery's research on hybrid power will be more and more important. In the next five years, it will focus on moderately-hybrid power and the next 10 years will be a strong hybrid.
